Miles Briggs, Scottish Conservative & Unionist MSP for Lothian, is welcoming the news that the Buy a Brick for Maggie’s campaign has passed the £1 million milestone. Miles has paid tribute to all those who have supported the appeal to raise £1.2 million for an extension to the Maggie’s Centre which is based in the grounds of Edinburgh’s Western General. He is also commending the Edinburgh Evening News for raising the profile of the appeal.

Speaking today Miles, who previously tabled a Parliamentary motion supporting the Buy a Brick for Maggie’s Campaign and organised a cross party photo-call in Parliament for party leaders and Lothian MSPs to show their backing for the campaign, said:

“I am delighted that the Buy a Brick for Maggie’s appeal has passed the £1 million mark and I pay tribute to Lisa Stephenson and all those involved on this brilliant achievement. I also commend all those constituents across Edinburgh and Lothian who have given so generously to the appeal."

“The Evening News’ partnership with the campaign is a fantastic example of a local newspaper getting behind the community and working with local residents to raise funds for a facility that benefits so many Lothian residents."

“The Maggie’s Centre is a fantastic place that provides support and advice for thousands of people affected by cancer in this area each year. The extension will allow it to help even more people in the years ahead and I look forward to the overall target being reached soon so that the new development can go ahead.”
