Keeping Portobello's Public Toilets Open

Callum Laidlaw

Portobello and Joppa are famous for their promenade and beach promising a great day out for people from across the city. For a family day out, or even just a stroll along the front, certain facilities are expected, including public toilets. And they are not just for visitors; a survey from Portobello Community Council found 90% of residents felt that it was ‘very important’ to keep the facilities open.

With public toilets across the city closing due to lack of use and vandalism, Callum believes that exceptions must be made for Portobello and Joppa if we are going to continue to encourage more visitors to return to ‘Edinburgh’s seaside’ and support local businesses and attractions.
