Gordon Lindhurst MSP

Scottish Conservative and Unionist MSP for the Lothian Region Gordon Lindhurst has welcomed the opening of a new Christians Against Poverty (CAP) Job Club in Edinburgh South West, at the Holy Trinity Church in Wester Hailes.

The Job Club, which opened on Tuesday this week and will run for eight consecutive weeks on Tuesday evenings, will offer up practical help and advice in a friendly setting for local people that are looking to enter the jobs market for the first time or who are looking to re-enter after a long spell out of work.

The club is one of 169 throughout the UK and offers people advice on how to put together a winning CV, to complete applications forms and to improve interview techniques.

The job club coach at Wester Hailes is Chris Hoskins and Gordon commended his work, as well as everyone involved in setting up the club, in a Parliamentary motion this week.

Gordon commented:

“As a member of the Social Security committee in the Scottish Parliament I understand the need for support to assist people in developing the skills needed to prepare themselves for applying for jobs."

"It is therefore to be welcomed that Christians Against Poverty and the Holy Trinity Church in Wester Hailes are working together to offer this support."

"This job club will be immensely valuable for local people, not only in helping them develop those skills, but also to allow them to meet with other people who are in the same situation and to share experiences and offer support to each other.

"I wish Chris and everyone involved all the very best over the coming weeks in developing the job club.”
